CONSERVATOIRE
Ankara State Conservatoire has the objective of training: qualified artists
and musicians for institutions of art serving in our country (Presidential
Symphony Orchestra, State Symphony Orchestra, State Opera and Ballet,
State Theatre); instructors with academic careers; and experts who are to
study in the field of musicology by training composers and interpreters in the
fields of music and performing arts. Since its establishment, all courses in
the State Conservatoire have been given with the assistance of equivalents
in foreign countries.
At present there are two symphony orchestras in Ankara State
Conservatoire each of which is comprised of advanced students. Ankara
State Conservatoire has also the Hacettepe Symphony Orchestra made
up of research assistants, and there are also the Chamber Music, Drama
and Ballet troops. The Chamber Drama group is fully capable of performing
works of every stage and style.
Ankara State Conservatoire has three Departments with the following
Main Arts and Main Science Sections: Department of Music (Composition
and Conducting Main Art Section, Piano Main Art Section, Wind/Brass
and Percussions Main Art Section, String Instruments Main Art Section),
Department of Musicology (Ethnomusicology and Folklore Main Science
Section), Department of Performing Arts (Ballet Main Art Section, Opera
Main Art Section, Acting Main Art Section).
The programs range from various practical and theoretical studies to
professional degrees. Admission to Ankara State Conservatoire is by an
audition. To be eligible to take the audition one must score the minimum
grade note at the YÖS Guide.
